A trip to the Tree Farm

We have been cutting down our own tree for a few years now. So off we go (without our friends the Smith's who were our tradition family to go cut down a tree...they decided to move to somewhere warmer....but that is another post) to the tree farm. Things were a little different. It is two weeks before Christmas.........the trees have been picked over, it was snowing and cold, and they had a sale........................ Below are the Tree farm helpers......one being the oldest Bass child.........

It is art...................

Hand-Blown glass sculptures are not your everyday occurrence in Murfreesboro. And I will admit it takes special teenagers to appreciate it. Especially after two of them (KA and her friend Laura) have run 3.1 miles at one of the most challenging cross country courses with 150 other girls. But they braved the cold weather due to this was the last weekend the Chihuly exhibit was in Nashville. The artist came to Cheekwood and took 100's of picture. Then went home to Seattle Washington and gathered glass he already had and made others. He sent a team with his plans for where he glass should be.
Color

Color, light and form in nature.............interesting....................at night the "glass" glows.......there are lights.............

Topic of discussion here was did they float or were they on stands????

Two mom's who saw a lot of running that day......................

This was named the sun..............

Can you say "focus"

Katie Ann received a digital camera for her birthday this year and I have had a good time using it. But I have missed my zoom lens. I attempted to put the lens on KA's camera and it fit. But it would not auto focus. So I had to figure out how to zoom and focus. But then my pictures were still fuzzy. Then I realized unless I needed my glasses "on" when I looked through the lens or the pictures were going to be blurry. So it is a work in progress. Sometimes I get the picture and sometimes I do not (as seen below. :)
